Digital TV coupons become available today
For those of you who still watch television on older, analog signals (ie:rabbit ears, or roof-top antenna) the countdown has begun until those broadcasts become extinct. Begining in February 17, 2009 June 12, 2009, all television broadcasts will be converted to a digital format, and the analog spectrums currently being used for broadcasts will be reclaimed by the National Telecommunications and Information Admimistration for other uses. Anyone who owns older, standard analog television sets will be required to (at a minimum) purchase a digital converter box in order to watch the new broadcasts. Do not fret, though, as begining today, all households are eligible to request up to two coupons good for $40 each to be used to offset the cost of purchasing the digital converter boxes, which will start at a price point of between $50 and $70 apiece. I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
